This reads like soul déjà vu. The unlearning, the radical responsibility, the quiet rebuilding. It’s wild how many of us had to parent ourselves just to feel safe in our own skin. You put words to something so many of us quietly live. xoxo

You are so right. It is crazy. The only solution I can find is being less quiet about it. When you know that it is wrong teachings, years of hammered conditioning - you are not enough... you are not enough... YOU ARE NOT ENOUGH!!! - we realize that we aren’t crazy or alone. I see it with my daughters and believe me, I did everything to make them know their worth - but it creeps in from so many spaces. As I tell them as they are ripping apart a perfectly organized closet to find the only item of clothing that they can feel good about themselves in in that moment (I remember this so well) -

"You are loved. You are beautiful. You are smart. You are talented. You are important. You are mfing limitless. Only in a distorted mind with the crazy lady in the building are you anything less. That crazy lady needs to be evicted immediately." If only it were that easy. But my hope, as I said in this letter, is that someone reads this and remembers to love themselves - earlier than I did. I hope it inspires all of us to continue on this self-love journey. We deserve this for ourselves. Thank you Karen. I always feel so close to you sister. xo

This touched me so deeply, Danni🌹

Your words mirror so much of what many of us have quietly lived, mistaking admiration for self-worth, learning to love ourselves not through reflection in others, but through rediscovering the sacred truth within.

The unlearning, the relearning, the radical responsibility… all of it is part of this beautiful and humbling journey toward wholeness.

As Marcus Aurelius wrote, “Look well into yourself; there is a source of strength which will always spring up if you will always look.”

Thank you for reminding us that loving ourselves is not vanity — it’s the most courageous act of honesty and grace. 🦉🪶

Loving ourselves is being able to look well into yourself as Aurelius wrote and say, I deserve to be loved no matter what I do, say, and think... and I am going to give this type of love to myself. I don't care what anyone says (especially the marketing)... it is all about inner beauty. I will remind myself this for forever and I hope that by doing so, I can pass this on to my two daughters and to every other beautiful human that crosses my path. The world is crazy, upside down, brutal. The only thing that can save us is exchanges like the ones you and I are having right now and remembering that LOVE and connection will always matter most. Thank you Sally for being here. I swear that I am crying from the emotion of all of this. You with me today reunites hope. Human connection always has this effect on me. I am so grateful for this. xo

Oh Danni 🌹your words brought tears to my eyes too.

What a beautiful, honest truth, that loving ourselves deeply is how we learn to love others purely.

Scripture reminds us, “We love because He first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19

Self-love isn’t prideful; it’s how we become vessels of grace for others, especially those we hold closest to our hearts.

I’m so grateful for this exchange, it’s exactly what the world needs more of… real, heartfelt connection, human to human.

Thank you for opening your heart so fully. ❤️🦉🪶🌹
